  15. • PROJECT STRATEGY
  16.  
  17. HTML.edit is an editor for the HyperText Markup Language, the text-based
  18. coding used for documents on World Wide Web (WWW). All HTML-coded
  19. documents created by HTML.edit are saved external to the editor as ASCII
  20. text files. World Wide Web servers follow HyperText Transfer Protocol
  21. (HTTP) and deliver on demand HTML documents to remote clients using
  22. browser programs like NCSA Mosaic.

  24. • NEW FEATURES

  26. Most of the new features are covered in more detail within HTML.edit
  27. Help:
  28.  
  29. *  HTML.edit is a HyperCard-based standalone application and does not
  30. require HyperCard to run. It's larger than a stack, as it includes the
  31. HyperCard engine. The advantage is that HyperCard 2.2 is not required to
  32. use it.
  33.  
  34. *  This version sports an Index card, with functions for saving and
  35. deleting multiple documents.
  36.  
  37. *  The Editor Window is now sizeable up to 640 by 640 pixels.
  38.  
  39. *  Each document is now divided into a Header, Body, and Footer section.
  40. This is in keeping with the proper format of an HTML document, and also
  41. allows for documents larger than 30K characters.

  43. *  A late-breaking feature (ie., somewhat operational) is the ability to
  44. double-click on HTML.edit documents or drag text files onto the HTML.edit
  45. icon to import the text files into HTML.edit. Note that the editor MUST
  46. be open for this to work.

  48. • HTML.edit HELP
  49.  
  50. HTML.edit contains both a printable, hyperText Help document and also "A
  51. Beginner's Guide to HTML" (downloaded from NCSA). Balloon Help is
  52. implemented for many features.

  54. • LIMITATIONS
  55.  
  56. HTML.edit is not able to contain more than ~30K (29,996 characters) in a
  57. field. Documents can be larger than 30K when including the Header and
  58. Footer areas (and will export the complete contents of Header, Body and
  59. Footer), but imported documents will be truncated to 30K.
